He has not paid someone to fix something since roughly 1998. The dishwasher has been opened up twice. There is a coffee can of screws that are, apparently, all different.
The difficulty is that he does not want tools as a gift, because he already has better ones than you would buy. What works is something that acknowledges the habit rather than trying to equip it.
